Sarojini Naidu (1879-1949)

 Political crusader Sarojini Naidu, who fought tenaciously for women's freedom and civil rights, died on 2 March 1949. She gained notoriety for her battles during the drive for Indian independence. Due to her lyrical talent, Mahatma Gandhi gave her the moniker "Nightingale of India" or "Bharat Kokila." Her birthplace was Hyderabad. She completed her schooling in a number of locations around the globe, including Cambridge, London, and Madaras. She joined the Indian National Party after completing her studies and adopted Gandhi's philosophy. She became the first woman to hold the position of Governor in the Dominion in 1947 after being elected as the President of the Indian National Congress in 1925.On 2 March 1949 at the Lucknow Government House she died due to cardiac arrest.
