Zaverchand Meghani
was a renowned Gujarati writer, poet, journalist, and freedom fighter from Gujarat, India. He was born on August 28, 1897, in Chotila, a small village in Saurashtra region of Gujarat. He completed his education in Bhavnagar and later moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) to work as a journalist.
Meghani started his literary career as a poet and later began writing short stories and novels. His literary works were deeply influenced by the folk culture of Gujarat, and he wrote extensively on the lives and struggles of the people of Gujarat.

One of Meghani's most significant works is his collection of folk tales, titled "Saurashtra ni Rasdhar." It includes more than 100 folk tales that he collected from different parts of Saurashtra. Meghani's work played a vital role in preserving and promoting the folk culture of Gujarat.

Apart from being a writer, Meghani was also an active participant in the Indian freedom struggle. He was a member of the Indian National Congress and took part in the Salt Satyagraha movement in 1930. He was arrested several times by the British authorities for his participation in the freedom struggle.

Meghani was also a social reformer and worked to uplift the status of women in Gujarati society. He actively supported the cause of education for girls and advocated for their rights.

Zaverchand Meghani died on March 9, 1947, at the age of 49. His contributions to Gujarati literature, folk culture, and the Indian freedom struggle remain an inspiration to many. Today, he is remembered as one of the greatest writers and social activists in the history of Gujarat
