Maharana Pratap, who was born on May 9, 1540, was a great warrior and the ruler of Mewar. In the 16th century, he was a key figure in India's campaign against the Mughal Empire. His memory has motivated many generations of Indians, and he is widely recognised as a symbol of bravery, valour, and patriotism.
Maharana Udai Singh II of Mewar's eldest son, Maharana Pratap, succeeded to the kingdom in 1572 after the passing of his father. However, the Mughal Empire, which by this time had established its dominance over the majority of North India, was a constant source of conflict during his reign.
The Battle of Haldighati, which was fought on June 18, 1576, was one of Maharana Pratap's most famous engagements. Maharana Pratap's men engaged the Mughal army under the command of Raja Man Singh, Akbar's general, in combat. Maharana Pratap battled fiercely and managed to escape with his life despite being outnumbered and outgunned, however his horse, Chetak, was severely hurt and died shortly after.
